Children and their cultures

Children and their cultures

Children come from all backgrounds and above you would see a picture of what this blog is truly about.  Culture among our children is a huge inpact in their development stage.  Children behaviors at times has to do with their culture background, so what if we can teach children about culture and its diversity, so they can appreciate one another instead of laughing at eachothers difference?

  1. I believe there is value in all knowledge but in a Nation that is plagued by astronomical debt, we would justify implementing cultural knowledge into government funded schools. Additionally, with programs such as music, arts, physical education, etc., being removed from curriculums entirely, what makes culture a priority above the others? Lastly, you mention people laughing at their differences, is this truly something we can fix with knowledge of culture or parenting and social skills development?

  2. I think that the main foundation of the way a child behaves truly comes from the home however: with our children spending eight plus hours in the school system the school also becomes a huge influence in the way our children think and act. If we can just influence them in a positive way about the cultures and beliefs of others, perhaps that can save one child from being bullied or laughed at.

  3. I think you both are correct. The old saying goes, "It takes a village to raise a child". Children are sponges and they pick up and/or learn things from their entire environment. Yes Nina, the proper foundation SHOULD start at home....and yes Marilyn, it should CONTINUE at school.

  4. I think that schools can have a huge influence with kids on this issue. I believe that if you introduce them to the positive aspects of each culture, you are creating a positive environment for them to learn and live in.
